"It's grim up North!" ... HA!

As the storms raged down South I did not sleep well, ‘up North’. Boxing Day morning I’d caught the news, to hear of the deaths and power-cuts and suddenly my finger had not seemed quite so bad. That said, I’m pleased that Dad ground down the sharp edge on the casserole dish I slashed myself on. He had done it after the Christmas meal, as I had cooked the Christmas pudding and made the custard.

Anyway, I spent the afternoon writing letters I’d meant to write awhile. Then I went a walk as Dad saw to the meal. I had walked to Raby Mere, taking pleasure in the fact that it had taken less than forty-five minutes to do the return journey. Come bedtime Dad had said to me, “If it’s too blowy in the morning we’ll go out shopping on Saturday.” Well, I’d set my alarm for seven, heard the high winds, then turned over and went back to sleep: “Aren’t you coming?” Dad had asked at ten to nine, as he opened my door ajar. He had already been dressed and ready and it had still been windy, so I’d reminded him what he’d said the night before. At that point Dad’s stubborn streak had kicked in and, he’d gone shopping on his own…

Come Saturday I went to Bury with Barry and, yet again the weather had been with us, thankfully. We’d gone to the Market, one of the finest in the country I believe. I’d got to have my first hot meat sandwich, pork and apple stuffing, which had impressed me. For me, Bury is ‘up North’ and everytime I’m there I notice differences about the place. This time what had intrigued me was what I understand as a batch-cake or just a batch, which the meat had been served in was called a muffin; and the fellow next to me had called a ‘barn’, or ‘barn-cake’ as I’ve heard it called. And, all of these are names for what them southerners might call a “white-batch.” And, talking of them ‘down south’, the one’s with all the bad weather, we’re having pretty good weather on our travels ‘up North’, where they say, “it’s grim,” which shows what little they know. HA!

the rules of regeneration...

00:00 Dec 26 2013

And the Christmas meal went pretty well, considering my angst toward Shirley and Roger. That said, I’ve never done the project for plaudits, which is good considering there’s no way I’ll be getting any from those two.

Alex called and was good enough to do a runaround with me, delivering cards in Wallasey. Needless to day, the friends I’d called on were out. But, the drive had been good. And talking of good, once more the weather stayed good for Barry and I as we’d traipsed round the shops, the woods, or just driven. Heck, on both the Saturday and the Sunday it had not rained until I was home and warm…

Come the day before Christmas Eve I ventured to Birkenhead with Barry on a very stormy day, after an equally stormy night. The weather had been bad, the parking worse and, the crowds horrendous. Whilst we had toured the shops, as Barry had looked for that elusive gift, I concluded that Dante had missed out on a level of Hell and that he should have included shopping in his list of seven levels, making it eight.

On Christmas Eve I cooked and washed up, cutting myself very badly on the little finger of my left hand, slashing it open; after blocking the sink. I’d seen to both, then in the evening I made several video’s for friends, across the world.

Come Christmas day Dad and I were up, to open presents, while he contemplated making the dinner and I thought of sending emails. Then Barry called, with a small bottle of Glenfiddich for Dad and a bottle of JD with honey, which I’d spoken so highly of. I had passed a usb to him, with a film on it for him. After he’d left I had realised that the films I’d made and converted were on that usb, so spent the rest of the morning grateful I’d not emptied the PC’s recycle bin, so was able to rebuild the films to send…

And then there was the evening and Matt Smith’s final outing as The Doctor, which had been really good, with enough of a fine farewell for him, to suit many. Well, since ‘The Day Of The Doctor’ I got to see John Hurt as the Dark Doctor I’ve always wanted and now with ‘The Time Of The Doctor’ Moffat re-wrote the rules of regeneration, successfully I think…

that includes the Acer laptop, of course

Thursday the weather was rotten, truly rotten and, travelling to the project was a real bind, so much so that come the evening I was hyper till two, as ever.

Needless to say, I did not feel great doing the shopping with Dad and come the evening I slept the evening away and awoke late on. I watched a Brandon Lee film, ‘Legacy Of Rage’, as I began working on the 'new' dell latitude, with a formerly burnt out motherboard, that got repaired for me.

Later, the Dell Inspiron played a film, as the Acer sat sulking. Then finally I finished at about two, with it doing all I wanted of it, ceptin can take my old Nero. rats.

[It did accept dvd 5 and jasc psp] It frellin runs seven dead smooth.

I am used to a Heinz 57 tower. The Inspiron is over eight years, an ex office machine and runs well smooth still, even with my clogging it with too many films, to goto disc.

Now thanks to Karl, I have this Latitude D630. This little thing is bigger and faster than anything I've ever owned. I won't clutter it like the Inspiron, which by all rights should be running slower than it is... but, for me... it's good.

I this thing tho, if I can acquire a good Nero I might just get used to Seven after all.

[still like 98... which all my machines aspire to... HA! and, that includes the Acer laptop, of course.] For someone who is unemployed, am damn lucky.

...with randy Orton

On Saturday I started travelling with Barry doing what we around the shops, having already completed a minor mission on the way. Come the evening Alex called and we’d talked positively about past stuff. I had finished the new story I’d been working on, after he had left, which had pleased me greatly. I awoke the next day feeling pretty good indeed and when Barry had picked me up I’d been positively perky. We’d driven to a canal at Preston Brook and walked aways’ on a beautiful sky day taking photo’s and chatting and planning. On the way there the weather had not been good, not on the way back. In truth, we’d been most fortunate with the weather.

I had not slept well at all, with the extraction site being abscessed and painful, though just a few hours after agony, I awoke with the gum feeling sensitive, but fine. I then changed Dad’s bed and helped him get on with the housework. Come the afternoon I’d made rock cakes and rested the evening away for my knees, after making our tea.

Come the weekend I’d made a remark to Barry about the dark heavy clouds I’d seen, to which he replied, “Yes maybe, but we’ve been fortunate with the weather of late.” And he’d been right… For the last three weekends, or so, we’ve had ‘alright’ weather.

Come to that, Thursday it was ‘aright’ for me again. I missed the rain on each mission, whether it had been food tasting, signing-on, or going to the project.

Food testing had been ‘interesting’ as ever; I had tried several type of tinned fish, then a lemon doughnut, with a sprinkling of chips of royal icing on top. It’d been my calorific high of the day, yet quite tasty.

It had been as the train neared Birkenhead on the way to the project that thing got ‘interesting’ again: “Due to debris hanging from the roof of the tunnel, the driver informed us, “this train will only be going a far as James Street.” That’d meant a hell of a walk, which did my mood no humour, neither did few sarcastic remarks said at the door, or Roger moaning about money, when I needed expenses, for travelling. In the end, I saw to the bins then got gone. Sometimes I really don’t know why I still continue with the project; then I recall how lucky I was to have my folks when I’d needed help, so now I do as I do and provide a meal. It’s not much.

But it’s something…

Well, the trains were running from Central, all the way through to Hooton. I got the train and, then another back to Brombrough, spending much of the journey talking to a very interesting fellow, who I think was a criminal lawyer, to judge from some remarks. And, when I got in I had been going to go on the P.C, then learned how full the harddrive was so had decided to shuffle some files, while watching ‘2 Rounds Reloaded’ with the WWE fighter Randy Orton.

On Saturday Barry went doing family things, while I stayed in and had a relaxing day, which has been something I’ve needed for awhile I feel.

Maybe the day on my own was good; but my day with company, Barry as it happens, on Sunday had been better. Oh nothing special, just our shopping runaround and, drive down country lane… but, I’d enjoyed it. Come the evening Alex called, leaving me in a reflective mood and a High Full Moon… although, it was a good reflective mood…

I got a 'new' laptop Thuesday, courtesy of Karl... biggest little Dell I'll have owned.

Thanks to a birthday present, I got a motherboard of Amazon, to fit into a machine with a burnt out machine from work and, hey-presto, a machine worth £115 - £200 in the shops at present. I do seen to like it so far... **dubious voice**

It has Windows Seven onnit. tho Karl faked it to look like 98 for me. But, it still acts dead Macc - ish. [as intended.] But. As yet I can't figure if it'll take my 'old' software like Nero.

hyper... as ever!?!

23:53 Dec 01 2013
Times Read: 660

On Monday I got up and out and went to Wirral Met, the Pyramids Birkenhead and had a basic Math and English test. I think I did well, but I’ll find out. Then come the afternoon I tried to write, but the last two Chapters of the new piece have proven elusive, thus far. I also endured more mouth pain as bone works itself out, slowly.

Needless to say, I had slept even worse than usual ‘coz of the mouth, but until it heals; I know what to expect, more of the same.

Come Tuesday I went to see my doctor, who wore a black fairy dress and dark tights and looked beautiful, so before I went I told her so. I’d gone to see her to hear of the results and, it had been as expected, so I now have a new powerful inhaler, similar to the Spinhalor my Mum used to use. And the weather was pleasant till the late afternoon, when it clouded over. And, I did catch an episode of ‘Person Of Interest’, which I do so like, though a major character just got killed and that got me…

Anyway, the casserole had been good, as had the news for a friend Alex, which I had appreciated for him, while a few others might not. Well tough, I was so pleased for him myself… It’s good when good things happen to those who deserve it…

Since he retired, Dad has regarded our housework as work and, as we were working Thursday I’d been sweeping downward with my long-handled pink duster when I’d brushed against a card I gave my Mum years ago: “Hello, this is Daniel O’Donnell,” the card said to me, in his Irish lilt, then wished me a Happy Birthday, as it had been programmed for. Then as I walked away, Mum’s rose in a plastic case she got for her 25th wedding anniversary began to sound it’s tune; just a few bars, but boy had it been freaky… Come the afternoon my friend Alex called and while out and about, he took me to the dole. And, when I asked why I was to see an advisor I did not know next time, at a time I found terribly inconvenient, as I get anxious then; I’d been told it had been because my advisor believed I’d been seeking expenses. I had to assure them that I was not claiming and instead paid for my last travelling to the exam myself. Then come the evening it had been off to voluntary work, where once again we had few at the door… That said I was still hyper at the end of the night, as ever…
